License plate reader policy / immigration enforcement

Read the Building Bridges Coalition's letter asking the city to route all federal license plate reader data requests to the city attorney and to suspend the program if its no-immigration-enforcement policy is violated.

Expressed deep skepticism that federal immigration agencies will honor the city's policy, citing ICE detentions and the end of temporary protected status, and urged vigilance protecting immigrant neighbors.

Cited the police department's general orders on immigration enforcement and asked the city to require — not merely allow — police to get the city attorney's opinion before sharing immigration information with other agencies.
